TipSlip ("we", "us", or "our") is a mobile app for service-industry workers to log shifts, record tips, and track earnings. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.
By creating an account or using TipSlip, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Account information. When you register, we collect your username, email address, and password. Passwords are stored as one-way bcrypt hashes — we cannot recover or read your password.
Shift and tip data. When you log a shift, we collect the information you enter: date, hours worked, tip amount, shift type, tip-out amounts, and any notes. This is the core data the app exists to store on your behalf.
Settings and preferences. We store your configured preferences including pay period length, tax rate, tip-share roles and percentages, and notification preferences (whether notifications are enabled, and your preferred day and time for weekly summaries).
Push notification device tokens. If you opt in to weekly push notifications, we store an APNs device token provided by Apple. This token is used solely to deliver your weekly earnings summary notification. It is never used for advertising or shared with third parties.
Information we do not collect. We do not collect your precise location, contacts, photos, payment card numbers, or any government-issued identification. We do not use any third-party analytics SDKs or advertising networks.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Your data is stored on servers hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the United States. We use HTTPS for all data transmission between the app and our servers. Authentication is handled via JSON Web Tokens (JWT), which are stored in your device's secure Keychain.
While we take reasonable technical measures to protect your information, no system is completely secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your TipSlip account.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all data associated with your account — including your profile, shift records, tip records, settings, and device tokens — is permanently deleted from our servers. This deletion is irreversible.
You can delete your account at any time from within the TipSlip app:
TipSlip is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of TipSlip after a policy change constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
